One Year Later!

I’m gently arriving here—after a year of feeling overwhelmed by the idea of adding one more thing to an already full life.

But something about early spring softens that resistance. The quiet persistence of green shoots, the slow unfurling of leaves, the birdsong that welcomes the sun each morning… it all feels like an invitation. A reminder that growth doesn’t have to be forced—it can be embodied.

So this space is an extension of that.

A place where I can share what I’m steeping, crafting, foraging, and savoring—rooted in the rhythms of the seasons and the quiet magic woven through the natural world.

To begin, I’m sharing one of my favorite early spring creations: a wild-crafted magnolia petal syrup.

Magnolia trees are ancient—older than honeybees. Their blossoms were once pollinated by beetles, and it’s believed they may have even been part of the dinosaur’s landscape!! There’s something about working with them that feels like touching a living thread of deep time.

This syrup carries that essence beautifully—softly floral with a warming, ginger-like spice, subtle notes of cardamom and caramel, and a luminous deep-pink hue that feels almost otherworldly.

Magnolia Petal Syrup

You’ll need:

• 4 cups magnolia petals, carpels removed and gently rinsed

(harvest buds or flowers just beginning to open for the best flavor)

• 2 cups sugar

(organic cane sugar for a softer tone, or white sugar for a more vibrant pink)

• 2 cups spring or filtered water

• A dash of lemon juice

Add everything to a pot and bring to a gentle boil. Lower the heat and allow it to simmer for about 25 minutes, letting the petals fully infuse their color and flavor.

Strain out the petals, then return the liquid to the heat and reduce until it reaches your desired consistency.

Let cool, then store in the refrigerator for a few weeks.

This syrup is beautiful stirred into iced white tea, added to sparkling water, or drizzled over unsweetened plant-based yogurt with fresh fruit.

A simple, seasonal ritual—crafted slowly, with intention.

And if you take a moment while preparing it, you’ll notice the small details… the delicate carpels, the softness of the petals—tiny reminders that even the most fleeting blooms carry something lasting.

If you find yourself drawn to these kinds of seasonal rituals, you’re warmly invited to stay connected—whether that’s following along here, sharing your own creations, or finding me at a local market. I’ll be weaving more of these offerings, recipes, and small moments of beauty into this space as the seasons unfold.
